Finally, Sony has confirmed the rumors of the slim edition of Playstation 3 or PS3. The much awaited news came from Sony official announcement at GamesCon 2009 in Cologne. It still retains most of the Sony PS3 console features but comes with some upgrades. As for now, the official confirmed the news as per below:
- 120 GB hard disk ( upgraded from 80 GB in old PS3 console)
- no backward compatibility with PS2 games
- 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter and 34 percent less power use
- Announced prices are $299 (or €299, £249, and ¥29,980), depending on the location
- estimated launch date : early September
Overall, it’s a great addition to the Sony Playstation family and if you’re waiting to buy PS3, wait for the slim PS3 to be on sale, the price for the bulkier PS3 will drop surely! For the time being, enjoy the pictures of Sony Playstation 3 slim edition.
